Handi Disc Sanding and Grinding Tips

Flex the wheel until you no longer hear the "crackling" noise. This is the wheel that you will use for sanding and grinding. The Handi Disc will now be pliable enough to allow you to sand around curves or corners without gouging. The flexed wheel will cut just as well as the non-flexed wheel, however, it will not cut a perfectly straight line.

When sanding or grinding DO NOT BEND Handi Disc beyond 45 degrees.

For sanding the Handi Disc works best on a drill or hand grinder. Be sure to heed RPM restrictions: 3600 RPM for the arbor and 10,000 RPM for the Handi Disc.

Always use the rubber pressure washers included with the package. The Handi Disc is the perfect tool for sanding on wood, fiberglass, bondo, etc. It leaves a medium grit finish.

It's best to remove lawn mower blades for sharpening, however, if unable to remove, lawn mower blades can be sharpened right on the mower. Disconnect the spark plugs and secure the blade so it doesn't move while you are working on it. Be sure the sparks are going away from the sharp edge of the blade. Sharpen only the beveled edge. Take the same number of strokes on each end of the blade to ensure that the blades stay balanced. CAUTION: Remove all gasoline from lawn mower tank, deck and work area.

Knock any burrs off the back of the blade with the back of the Handi Disc. With this same basic procedure axes, hoes, shovels, chisels and so on may be sharpened. Do not attempt to sharpen fine cutlery.

Remember that, unlike sandpaper, the abrasive is impregnated into the Handi Disc. Both sides may be used for sanding and grinding. If you wear one side out, flip the wheel over and use the other side.
